The design approach employed by Comnet for equipment mounted within the card cage rack unit (C1-CH) with modular power supply (C1PS) eliminates the risk of a single-point failure in the event of a major fault within any module. Each rack-mountable module incorporates automatic electronic current limiting, rather than relying on the power supply unit. In many competing designs, a major module fault causes the power supply to enter current limiting, shutting down the entire rack. With Comnet’s design, only the faulty module shuts down, allowing the remaining modules to continue operating normally. The automatic current limiting is also self-resetting for temporary or intermittent faults. All modules in the chassis rack are hot-swappable, eliminating the need to power down the rack for service.
